A skateboard NFT that went for $2.5 million

Everyone had a stupid hobby that they spent waaayy too much money on.

For some, it’s video games. 🕹

For others, it’s Superhero toys. 🦹🏽‍♂️

For me, it was stupid sports equipment. 🏏

One of my favourite ones was a skateboard. 🛹

I used it maybe two times tops, fell both times, and kept it under my bed for over 10 years.

But you know what?

I would use that skateboard EVERY SINGLE DAY if it was worth Rs 2 crore.

That’s exactly what THIS skateboard went for:

While this skateboard looks dope with a dragon around it and all.

But you can’t even skate it or do flippy things with it.

That’s right, it’s a Rs 2 crore skateboard that you CANNOT RIDE, why:

⚱️ it’s plated with 24 karat gold

🪶 it weighs 20 kgs (that’s 45 pounds for my 🇺🇸 frens)

🍟 it’s got an embedded chip to verify ownership with a smartphone

The question I know you’re asking is — who tf is selling such a skateboard?!?

The skateboards were part of NFT collection Azuki’s Proof Of Stake auction.

Get it — proof of skate?!? 🛹 ⛸ 🛼

In total, 8 skateboards were sold for $300k (Rs 2.4 crore) per skateboard.

THAT’S A TOTAL OF $2.5 million (Rs 20.6 crore) sold.

The other question I know you’re asking is — who tf is buying such skateboard?!?

8 members of the Azuki community.

Now, why is a Rs 2 crore gold skateboard with a chip a BIG DEAL?!?

Three words 👉 Physical Backed Tokens (PBTs)

PBTs are a dope new theme in web3 that have nothing to do with Cannabidiol (CBDs).

What’s a PBT?

A PBT is a token that links a physical item to a digital token on a public blockchain like Ethereum. It can be used to keep a track of who has owned a physical product in the past.

These tokens don’t have a liquid price and trade like a regular token. ❌

These tokens can only be redeemed for an IRL physical item. ✅

These tokens allow users to redeem their NFTs for something they can actually show off in the real world, and not just on Twitter or a Metaverse.

They can also be transferred between addresses by scanning the chip within the physical item.

Pretty darn cool. 👏

Doodhwala’s take: Utilities in the crypto world are cool, but when it spills into the real world, it’s v v cool. More and more NFT projects will be adopting this approach tbh.

If ya’ll know a project that will drop me some PBT doodh, hmu!

We almost fell for the OpenSEA scam!!

Our goal with the doodhwala is to keep you safe and surakshit.

We’re just like your mother. 😇

Today, we wanna tell you about another shady crypto phishing scam going around.

Here’s how it works:

Let’s say you’re shiposting on Twitter (read: liking @DoodhwalaDaily) and waiting for Elon to drop a Doge tweet.

And suddenly you get a notification 🔔 from an NFT PFP account.

You open your notifications and see someone random tagged you in a tweet. 😯

The tweet is about a hack of the NFT marketplace 🔓 OpenSea.

It looks something like this:

The tweet 📃 directs you to a blog post that says OpenSea is hacked and all your NFTs will be comprised unless you do the following:

1️⃣ Click update #1 2️⃣ Connect wallet 3️⃣ Enter seed phrase4️⃣ Approve update #2

Congratulations you’ve been scammed. 👏

The website steals your private key and drains it of NFTs + cryptocurrencies.

This is a damn common scam in crypto. Twitter is flooded with bots which tag people and sent them to shady websites, and when victims connect their wallet.

BAM. THEY SCAMMED.

Here are a few things you can keep an 👀 on to avoid being SCAMMED:

1️⃣ Follow only official accounts:These days everyone’s verified on Twitter. Even the scam account in the pic above. But its handle is not the same as OpenSea’s official Twitter handle — @opensea.

2️⃣ Bookmark websites:If any like from Twitter (Discord, Reddit, etc) directs you to Opensea (or any other website that connects to your wallet), check the URL. And have the URL bookmarked so that you don’t rely on some shady link to take you to that website.

3️⃣ Straight Fact check:If OpenSea got hacked, and you got that news from a random bot on Twitter, you dumb. Don’t be dumb. If you got word something is hacked, checking credible news sources like the doodhwala before some random link.

Share these tips with yo friends and family. 🤝

They’re already upset that all you got them for Diwali was that box of dry fruits.

This should make up. 🤗

Chaach and Charts: Magic Eden goes 💩

Daily purchases of Solana NFTs on Magic Eden has gone from:

🗓 September 9 → 145k🗓 October 23 → 8.7kThat’s a 97% 🔻

WTF?!?

In that time, Magic Eden introduced ONE big change.

They made royalties optional.

This meant NFT traders could choose to pay (or not to pay) a royalty fee to the NFT creator.

And it looks like people don’t like this move from Magic Eden. 👀
