šŸ”Ŗ 3 reasons Solana ain’t no ETH-killer.

PLUS: Bitboy just took something from Satoshi

Namaskar, this is the doodhwala. The crypto newsletter that as fun as eating caramel cheese popcorn and binge-watching The Office in your pyjamas, while that pizza order is on the way. šŸ˜‰

Yeahhh. That’s life!

Here’s the crypto menu for today:

  • Solana ain’t no ETH killer, it’s barely an L2 killer

  • You won’t believe who created the Bitcoin logo

Solana ain’t no ETH killer, it’s barely an L2 killer

Two questions we get asked all the time is:

  1. Is Solana an ETH killer?

  2. When will Dhoni retire?

We don’t know the answer to #2, but #1 is — NO.

At least not right now.

Here are 3 reasons why:

1ļøāƒ£ TVL

Solana’s TVL isn’t close to Ethereum. In fact, Arbitrum and Optimism have flipped Solana’s TVL.

šŸ”µ Arbitrum TVL: $1.05 billion (Rs 8,400 crore)šŸ”“ Optimism TVL: $953 million (Rs 7,800 crore)🟢 Solana: TVL: $940 million (Rs 7,700 crore)

wait, tf is TVL?

TVL stands for total value locked. It’s the dollar value of the assets (crypto) locked in a DeFi protocol. For blockchains (like Ethereum, Solana, Optimism, and Arbitrum)

Basically, TVL is the amount of crypto locked in a blockchain.

Higher TVL is generally a good sign that:

  • builders are building protocols

  • users are using protocols

  • doodhwala is writing about them

2ļøāƒ£ Transactions

Solana’s transaction growth has slowed down too.

šŸš€ Between July 2021 to January 2022, Solana’s transactions (excluding voting transactions) grew by 110%.

šŸ’© Between January 2022 to today, Solana’s transactions (excluding voting transactions) grew by just 5%.

Tbf, Ethereum has not seen much growth in non-voting transactions as well. But Ethereum’s layer-2 scaling solutions have taken off.

Just look at that massive jump in transactions on Arbitrum

Since the start of the year, Arbitrum’s daily transactions grew by 13x! Optimism’s daily transactions are also up by 10x.

3ļøāƒ£ Contract deployments

Ethereum and Solana are smart contract-based blockchains

In simple words they make contracts that make things happen automatically, basically they’re the opposite of SBI where you have to go through 10 people to close an account.

And Ethereum is crushing Solana in terms of contract deployments.

On November 1:

Contracts deployed on Ethereum: 20.7kContracts deployed on Solana: 192

Ethereum has 107 times the contracts deployed than Solana

Make of this what you will. The doodhwala is just here to drop some faxxxx and spill some šŸ¼

You won’t believe who created the Bitcoin logo

An orange B with two lines.

That’s what you remember when you read the word ā€œBitcoin.ā€

And yesterday we celebrated Bitcoin Logo Day!

This is what we’re celebrating:

12 years ago, someone created the Bitcoin logo.

And now you see it everywhere — as laptop stickers, on ATMs across the world, in iconic places like Times Square, and even a restaurant in Delhi’s Connaught Place.

But here are some interesting facts you didn’t know:

  1. The logo was NOT created by Satoshi Nakamoto, but by an anon dude named Bitboy (not that YT scammer)

  2. Satoshi created a few logos, but it’s not used as much as Bitboy’s design. Here’s the evolution of Bitcoin’s logo:

3. Bitboy’s logo was created 732 days after Satoshi released the whitepaper, it goes to show you don’t need a banger design to launch!

4. The font used in the logo is — Ubuntu Bold Italic — which was released during the launch of Ubuntu OS, a free and open-source software.

Tbh we love the current Bitcoin logo (not only because of the Hindutva colours 🫢) but because it shows the decentralized nature of the Bitcoin community.

Satoshi built the system and owns 1.1 million BTC worth $30 billion.

Yet, his logo and design are not used. But the design of some rando named Bitboy.

Gotta love crypto šŸ¤™

The ONLY reason to travel to Whitefield

We get there’s no reason to go travel to Whitefield.

Except one šŸ‘‰ Metamorphosis 2022.

What is it?

It’s a conclave, conference, exhibition, amusement arcade, and a party, depending on the time and the room you’re in.

But it's all web3 and crypto! Register here šŸ‘‡

Chaach and Charts: Polygon is coming in šŸ”„

Are people actually using crypto during the bear market?

Good question.

The answer is HELL YES!

Look at Polygon. It is one of the most popular L2 chains and a lot of people are building on it.

In Q3 2022, it set a new record!

24 million addresses were added out of which at 6 million are still active.

So what are the top Polygon DApps you use?
