🛍️ NFTs coming to Amazon

Amazon.

The trillion-dollar company that you use to compare prices when you’re out shopping is getting into web3.

But it’s not crypto payments, it’s something completely different.

We don’t know everything, but like every nosy Indian aunty, we have some deets we wanna share with you:

What’s Amazon starting with?

Amazon is gonna start with what every degenerate starts with — NFTs.

Back in April 2022, Amazon CEO (not Jeff Bezos, some dude called Andy Jassy) said he wants to sell NFTs from the e-commerce platform.

Then in July, they wanted to hire someone for:

• “Digital Currency and Blockchain strategy” and

• “Unfunny Crypto Newsletters.”

We applied to both, but never heard back from either. 😢

Now, people at Amazon are indicating they the wanna bring NFTs to the e-commerce site as early as April 2023.

But how it plans to integrate these non-fungible tokens is not confirmed. 😕

So, let’s break out the ☕️ and 🍪 and discuss:

One way is → NFTs as rewards to play crypto games.

Games?

On an e-commerce site?

While reading the doodhwala?

OMG NO. 🙈

What are people gonna do?

🍬 Play Candy Crush while buying a diet cookbook?🍄 Play Smash Bros while buying baby diapers?🍓 Play Fruit Ninja while buying kitchen knives?

But seriously tho games 🤝 shopping is actually a THING.

Amazon’s Indian bhai Flipkart launched games waaay back in 2020 (still feels like yesterday lol) during the first Covid-19 lockdown.

People had nothing to do + Flipkart needed to engage users = Games 💡

Now, Amazon wants to do the same.

Amazon wants customers to play crypto games to claim NFTs while adding products they’re never gonna buy to their Wish List. 😭

(Self-affirmation: I will def get that PS5 one day!!!)

What does Amazon wanna do next?

Giving NFTs to users is one thing, giving them value is another (about 99% projects miss the second v v important bit).

Here are some questions to consider Jeff:

• Are these NFTs gonna give users discounts on Amazon?

• Will Amazon launch a marketplace like Instagram?

• Are these NFTs on-chain collectibles?

• Why am I reading the doodhwala?

Doodhwala’s take:

For a trillion-dollar company to integrate NFTs, especially on a public blockchain (not a private no, GOD no) would be hella cool.

This could be a completely separate product within Amazon and allow it to expand from physical goods retail → digital goods retail. 💡

🏆 Everybody wants some DAOs

We are amidst a new pandemic right now.

It’s the “Join our DAO!” pandemic! 🤦‍♂️

Everywhere you go, everywhere you see, people just rushing to you with their DAO idea and asking you to join.

“We’re a community of doodh drinkers with no lactose intolerance. Come join us!” 🍼

First of all…what’s a DAO?

So why is every Ramesh, Suresh and Mahesh building a DAO? 🤨

Because it's never been easier! 😎

Yup!

There are so many DAO tools that exist that make the process of organizing people with similar interest launch a community with tokens! 💰

Some of the top tools right now are:

• Syndicate

• Aragon

• Colony

• DAO Haus

• Zodiac

Just in the last month alone, over 4500 DAOs have been created using Syndicate! 🔥

And the total number of active DAOs created with Syndicate is 31.5k 🤯

To give you some context, Colony, in second place, has just around 11.5k DAOs created!

Clearly, Syndicate is dominating this market like Amul in the doodh market. (doodhwala take over coming soon 😎)

And on which network are these DAOs being created on?

Let doodhwala’s Polygon correspondent, Sandeep Bhai, tell you that:

There are over 19k DAOs that exist on the Polygon network! 🟣

This makes it the preferred network for DAOs over:

• Ethereum

• Gnosis

This DAO phenomenon is a great sign that people are opting for more crypto-native ways to create communities and push towards a common mission.

The usual route has been creating LLPs and raising funds from investors, which is a huge burden and painstaking process.

But now, communities can fund the mission they truly believe in. 🔥

And this is all thanks to more user-friendly tools and developer ecosystems! 👏

This is a positive net good for crypto, communities and doodhwala ofc (we get to write about this! 🤷‍♂️)
