The company that makes shoes that cost as much as a house just dropped its most degen sneaker.

The sportswear brand dropped the – Our Force 1 (OF1) collection, which are

• virtual Nike sneakers

• minted on the Polygon blockchain

• part of Nike’s .Swoosh web3 platform

For all your sneaker heads out there the OF1 are the virtual version of Nike’s iconic Air Force 1 (AF1).

Nike is dropping the OF1 sneakers in 2 kinda boxes:

👟 Classic Remix Box showcasing the old Air Force 1s

👟 New Wave Box showcasing the new Air Force 1s

How much do these boxes cost?

Nike is dropping them at $19.82, because the first Nike Air Force 1 was released in 1982.

And they’re available exclusively to members of the Swoosh platform.

When is the mint?

This week Nike is doing a teaser by airdropping AF1 posters to Swoosh members.

These ☝️ members will get to mint the OF1 boxes on:

The rest of the Swoosh community will get to mint the OF1 boxes on:

🗓️ May 10

But the problem is – Nike did not drop any more details about the OF1s, including:

• What’s the supply cap of the OF1s?

• What’s the utility of holding the OF1s??

• Any free doodh drops for OF1 holders???

Nike’s approach to dropping sneaker-NFTs is kinda different from its rival Adidas. Adidas is into styling existing NFT communities with their sneakers and casual wear. 🪂

But Nike is saying “f that, let’s drop our own NFTs.” 📍

🚀 Arbitrum’s Game of Tokens

There's some major heat going on in the Arbitrum world. 🌪️

No, it's not about the latest upgrade or anything techy.

It's about power, control, and a whole lot of ARB tokens. 🍿

So, let’s get into it, shall we? 🤔

Introducing the infamous AIP-1.05, the proposal that shook the Arbitrum community to its core.

⛔ AIP-1.05: The Proposal That Failed BIG TIME

The proposal asked for the return of 700 million ARB governance tokens to Arbitrum's DAO Treasury.

It emerged after the Arbitrum Foundation transferred funds without the community's approval back in March.

But guess what? 🤔

The proposal faced a massive REJECTION.

💥 Voting WAR: The Whales Strike Back

AIP-1.05 was defeated by a whopping ⟶ 118 million votes (84% of the total).

Only 21 million ARB tokens (around 14.5% of the total) supported it, while about 2 million ARB tokens sat on the fence.

🐋 A Power Play, They Say

One Arbitrum whale, holding 4.8 million ARB tokens, called the proposal a "power play" and said it would only add an "unnecessary step" that could hinder the growth of the Arbitrum ecosystem.

🎭 Decentralization or Progress: The Ultimate Dilemma

Another whale, wielding 18 million ARB tokens, argued that the community should strike…

…a balance between advocating for decentralization and not stifling the ecosystem's progress.

They believe that true decentralization is still a pipe dream in the industry. 🪈

🔥 The Backstory: AIP-1 and the Billion-Dollar Investment

The AIP-1 proposal was Arbitrum's first attempt at governance after its token airdrop in early March.

The Foundation had called for investing nearly $1 billion worth of ARB tokens to fund its operations.

But after facing backlash, it backtracked, saying AIP-1 was a ratification, not a proposal, and revealed that some tokens had already been sold for stablecoins.

🤝 Can't We Just Get Along?

The Arbitrum Foundation is now trying to reestablish dialogue with the community by releasing a fresh set of improvement proposals.

Will this DAO drama simmer down, or will the power play continue?
